I found out that my ex-boyfriend moved on and is dating someone new. Since it was my first relationship, I felt pretty depressed about the whole situation. I confided in my mom who then told my dad.

In his effort to console me, he sent me an email:

Just had a quick lunch with your Mom as she was doing some banking arrangement for the HK trip.

Learnt that you have had recently upsetting emotions over Gordon.

There is no need for such negative response to Gordon’s situation on his new girl friend “attachment” at all.

I have big reservation towards such behavior as showing off his qickness in such endeavor – such a lowly human quality as to take true love as a running competition for find an attachment.

Jacqueline, you have such good qualities within and without, that you deserve something a lot better, at least someone who really loves you to the bone.

So tell yourself it is just so good to leave that part of your life behind you and bid farewell to Gordon and wish him good luck.

You have some bigger pictures in your future life and at this moment you have no other concerns but your exams!

Translation: Gordon’s a jerk, you’re awesome.

I love my dad.

What a lovely daddy! I think there's already someone who loves you 'to the bone.'

  • squareby

I especially love that last line – “you have no other concerns but your exams!” So cute.

Adorable! It's so great to have supportive parents when it comes to relationship issues.

  • pansoti

awwww I love your dad!! He has a good point, too.

I did this in a hurry at work. Never expect it becomes “public”. That moment I had nothing in my head but to deliver my princess from miseries. If she understand Chinese I could have done the first aid job better.

That's actually a wonderful note. :) I'm not sure I get what he means by “such a lowly human quality as to take true love as a running competition for find an attachment” but I think there's a good point there.

@Mike — It means that it shouldn't be a competition to see who finds a new romance first. It's like her ex bf was trying to show off about how fast he could get someone to fall in love with him. Fob Dad thinks it's better to take your time to find true love — he's skeptical that this rebound thing is anything like true love. (Whereas I already know that I have true love for Fobby Dad, and I haven't even met him.)

Thank u Jane for reading my mind.
Below is a small creative writing posted in my FB back in Aug/09 titled “Consolation – to Someone Suffering at a Turning Point” when I noticed she was kind of depressed as a result of the breakoff. Peach flowers symbolizes love between male and femal. I wrote the Chinese version more than 30 yrs ago addressing to a friend of mine. The English was a recreation for my daughter's sitaution.
    ???????Peach flowers blossom & fade;
    ???????Phoenixes die before they reincarnate.
??????????????Love tales are just good to tell in a starry night,
?????????Speechless from afar I offer this to consolate:
???????????A fine archer indeed is Apolo's son
??????????Too bad his arrows do not reach a jilted lad.

    Such a sweet dad!

“at this moment you have no other concerns but your exams!”
LOL! All Dad's must graduate from the same “Dad” school.

  • katiek

Ken Leung is clearly an awesome Dad. I give this fob Dad 5 out of 5 stars. Very lucky daughter.
