My sister was telling my parents about how her relationships with guys never lasted too long because my mom was always overly picky about every guy she brought home. My sister then mentioned how one of her ex-boyfriends was becoming a pharmacist, and my mom’s eyes widened. (Asian moms love the combination of man and medicine).

My dad tried to tell my mom how she “looked down on people” before actually knowing their abilities…by literally translating a Chinese saying:

Dad: You! You doggy eye look people low!

I always thought that Chinese saying made sense. It's hard to explain why but it probably has to do with the height a dog's eyes are from the ground, and how if you have a lowly dog's eyes you shouldn't look down on people.
