I was in the kitchen making a sunny side up egg, hoping not to overcook it.

Me: How long should I leave it on the stove?
Dad: That depends; do you want a bright sun or is it okay a little bit clouded?

Those are very creative monikers for sunny side up and scrambled eggs. :D

Oddly enough, I think I understand. There's a very thin layer of egg white covering the yolk. If you leave the egg in the pan for too long, the layer will go from clear to opaque, making the “sun” yolk “clouded”. Take the egg out and the layer will not cook, making it sunny (and the yolk stays soft-ish).
I really like the way your dad calls it. I'm going to use that from now on.
