Stepping outside of the greenhouse

A conversation about college tuition

ME: okay well I will apply for financial aid next year.
DAD: Good, I tell you why.
No 1. this supports your family.
No. 2. It puts pressure on you.
No.3 Once you have pressure, you will have no choice but to do well and come out strong.
ME: okay
DAD: Family money spoil you and turn you in to a good for nothing. Trees grow strong in rough weather, not in greenhouse.
ME: …okay.
