Cali-flower

Posted on February 11, 2009 at 02:29am

While eating dinner with my parents and boyfriend (who is white), my dad urged my boyfriend to try a dish. My boyfriend asked what it was, and my dad replied, “It’s California flower and tomatoes.” My boyfriend stared at the dish with a confused look and asked what California flower was. I sighed and said “Dad, it’s cauliflower.” My dad replied, “That’s what I said. ‘Cali’ flower, it’s short for California flower.”

Logical thinking

This is what my coworker told me a while back. He had just bought a new pair of luxury pony skin shoes, and was wearing it for the first time on a trip to somewhere with his dad when it started raining.

him: (tip-toe-ing and walking across the streets very slowly and carefully not to get his shoes wet)
his dad: why are you taking so long?? what are you dancing on the street for??
him: dad, these are new pony-skin shoes, I can’t get them wet!
his dad: hah, pony skin shoes?? you make such a fuss, you think pony never took a shower in whole life?

Familial love =)

Posted on February 11, 2009 at 02:06am

In the spirit of upcoming Valentine’s day, I’m submitting this email excerpt from my dad.  It’s sweet, sentimental and slightly senile all at once.  Hopefully it will inspire people to write to their parents and tell them they love them.  As a bit of background, my mom just took her parents (my grandparents) on a month-long visit back to their hometown in Taiwan…

I admire  and Salute to Mom’s courage and effort and Kindly heart to accompany  her parents to Taiwan and round trip to New york. I deeply touched for her actions, She tell me —-We must seize and cherish  the Moment which we can, when parents in good health and visit more. It  reminds me—that I should visit mom [his mom, my grandma] in Taiwan soon, it is one year passed since I visited last time. You will not regreat forever. It is TRUE AND WISE .—–by my  grace wife and your dearly and wonderful   Mom.

love you   —–Dad

Ps. SUPER BOWL IS DONE, STEELER PLAY GOOD GAME.
